Choosing to Forgive

Matthew 18:21-22 Then Peter came to Him and said, “Lord how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?” JESUS said to him “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.”
JESUS was trying to get a point across to us that Forgiveness has to be a way of life to us. Forgiveness is a choice. Your choice to Forgive is instant and God honours the choice you make and HE starts to help you through the healing process.
You may Forgive today and feel wonderful, but tomorrow morning when you wake up you may be gripped with anger and filled with rage at the person that you forgave. The enemy then comes to deceive you and plants a thought in your mind that you haven’t forgiven. That is a lie from the enemy. The truth is that you have chosen to forgive, and the process has started. It may take a while for the process to be complete. For people who have had a lifetime of abuse, rejection and pain, there is much to forgive, but GOD enables us and HE gives us the grace to forgive and HE helps us to work through and walk through our Forgiveness. When you are weak, HE is strong.
When you think you can't do it, remenber that you can do ALL things through Christ JESUS. One of the biggest lies we have ever been told is to Forgive and Forget. Only GOD Forgives and Forgets. I will never forget that I had a husband who was shot and killed. We can't tell a mother or father whose children have been killed by a drunk driver that they forget it ever happened.
The way GOD heals us is that, GOD does not erase our memories, HE heals them. And what is the evidence that you have truly forgiven -- it's when you can remember without pain.

Take the step and make the choice to Forgive today !
